GHS: Responsible stewards of Georgia's story for nearly two centuries |
|
The Georgia Historical Society is Georgia's first and only statewide historical society. Founded in 1839 and headquartered in Savannah, Georgia's first city, for more than a century and a half the Georgia Historical Society has told the story of Georgia by collecting and preserving artifacts and documents important to our state, by publishing scholarship that explores our past, and by implementing educational programs that promote a better understanding of our history and the people who make it.
A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the Georgia Historical Society relies upon its members and the generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations to provide needed support for our programs and operations. Please join us in preserving Georgia's rich past for the future by making a contribution today.
